The Xenon Gloves compliment the range by providing a superbly insulated, lightweight glove. Top quality materials and straightforward design have lead to a fantastic glove.

Rab says: Superlight and packable insulated glove using Pertex® Quantum fabrics & PrimaLoft® Insulation. Soft microfleece lining.

The superlight Xenon Glove offers excellent insulation in an exceptionally packable form.

Superlight and packable, the Xenon Mitt punches far above its weight. A durable Pertex® Quantum outer is used to protect PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation for welcome warmth. A soft microfleece lining makes these gloves comfortable next to your skin.

Packing away into its own stuff sack, the Xenon Glove makes an ideal liner and is perfect for less strenuous mountain activities, or throwing in your daypack, just in case.

Rab's Xenon Gloves are one of the most comfortable pair of gloves I've ever used. The warmth to weight ratio is amazing, as you'd expect with top quality PrimaLoft Gold Insulation, with these gloves (weighing just 66g for the large size) and they have worked really well in some bitterly cold conditions. The gloves are thin enough to be highly dexterous which allows you to do more. However, they are not touch screen compatible so you do a lot of taking off and putting back on if you need to use a smart phone or touchscreen GPS.

They have a simple elasticated cuff which I think works well enough. The palms have a durable PU covering which in creases grip but remains soft to touch. They also come with a small stuff sack so you can store them in your pocket or pack easily when they are not being used.

Risky

So these gloves arrived and in the house they felt good. They are incredibly light for an insulated glove and the sewing appears top notch. There are a couple of labels, tags and buckles that you can cut off straight away to reduce the weight even further. So now the problem, I was up on Ben Macdui in pretty horrible conditions yesterday and went to change out of the wet gloves that I had on (cheap work gloves that can't be beaten for value, grip and dexterity) but I couldn't get my wet, numb hands into these. This is not a problem unique to this glove, always buy your cold weather gloves really big and mittens are better, but the texture of the inner layer and the lack of connection between the inner and outer shell made it impossible to get my fingers into them. In fairness after ten minutes with my hands mangled up in the palms they warmed up enough to wriggle my fingers most of the way in and despite soaking up moisture very quickly they remained fairly warm for the rest of my walk and dried out quickly (at home over the wood-burner but I reckon a quick squeeze and they'd dry hanging in a tent over-night). I think these would make a great glove for a runner or some-one moving fast and light with no scrambling when it's cold enough to put them on from the outset (but not really that cold).
