UOG TOP PICK - Montane Prism Gloves - Best for High warmth Low weight - We've singled out Montane's Prism Gloves as one of our top recommendations because they provide so much warmth for so little weight.

The Montane Prism gloves are super compressible which gives them a great packsize. The primaloft insulation is very warm, this is coupled with a microfleece lining that adds to the insulation value and deals with any sweat from your hands. Finish that off with a Pertex Microlight outer fabric that is windproof and water resistant.

These are great, protective, insulating gloves in a super packable and lightweight package.

Montane says:

These revolutionary new gloves have a micro pack size and a superb warmth to weight ratio.

Featuring PRIMALOFT Gold insulation they also have a PERTEX windproof outer and a brushed microfleece lining. Ideal as multi use gloves that will live unnoticed in your pack or pocket, they can easily be pulled on when needed.

Primaloft is considered to have the best warmth to weight ratio of any synthetic fibre, so why not make a glove which uses it for insulation but then has the lightest possible shell fabric to keep the whole product very lightweight indeed?

That's exactly what Montane have done, and the result is every bit as good as you would expect. these gloves are fabulously warm considering they weigh just 76g a pair. Feature-wise they're also a quality product with pre-curved fingers and roll over tips.

There was one disappointment however, the cuff is a bound hem and I found it quite tight - I have big hands and normally wear XL gloves, I could just about get these on, but when I did they were a perfect fit. A bit more 'give' at the wrist would make them perfect.

Lightweight gloves

Not as warm as I had hoped but useful as an albeit expensive 3 season back up due to their ultra low weight and pack size.
I tend to suffer from cold hands so this will be their main role.
Other gloves have better grip when using poles, ice axe.
