Outdoor Research's Gripper Heated Sensor Gloves are an ideal solution to anyone who suffers from cold hands but needs to be out in the elements. The combination of Gore's new windproof Infinium fabric with a quality ALTIHeat designed battery powered heating system makes these gloves a protective and warm option. The low bulk design means they are still highly dexterous with the battery pack fitting into a pocket in the inside of the wrist that is easily forgotten. There are three heat settings with the warmest giving off enough heat for anyone standing in sub zero temperatures for around 2-2.5 ours. The medium setting lasts around 5 hours while the lowest setting will provide 8 hours worth of heat.
The Gore Infinium is is windproof and pretty close to being waterproof too but it doesn't have taped seams so there is a risk of allowing water in. If a fully waterproof glove is critical to you then you may want to look for other options. However, this level of protection has been more than enough for cold, wet days in the mountains to keep my hands warm. The soft, comfortable fleece used on the inner and outer is supported with a tough reinforcement across the palm and fingers to increase durability.
