These full finger gloves are designed to provide maximum protection when your activities keep you out in the sun for prolonged periods. Advanced technology keeps your skin cool under hot and sweaty conditions.

Outdoor Research says:

ActiveIce fabric technology uses xylitol crystals to actually cool you as the fabric wicks away sweat. This collection is a must-have for paddlers, trail runners, hot weather backpackers, fisherman, cyclists, and everyone else who spends serious time in warm, dry, sun-baked environments.

Outdoor Research's ActiveIce Chroma Full Sun Gloves provide full coverage protection from the sun with UPF 50+. The fabric is lightweight, highly breathable and wicks away sweat effectively. The gloves have a simple clip to keep them together so you don't lose one when you're not wearing them.

The palm of the glove is made with a more durable fabric which is perforated to allow increased aeration. If you don't need padding in your cycling gloves, these perform much better than most traditional cycling gloves in hot weather. The glove has a tapered, elasticated wrist which provides a bit of extra coverage and comfort.

I really like these gloves, they have done exactly what they say on the can, and a little bit more! On my annual summer race there and back again on the south downs way, I usually find that my arms and neck get turned to crispy bacon by the sun. I could of course wear a long sleeved shirt and gloves, but then I would overheat. Then I found these gloves! They fitted really snugly to my fingers and stretched over them giving a secure and firm feel. I found that they had no effect whatsoever on my movement and allowed my fingers to move rapidly around to change gears and adjust my position on the bars. As for their breathability, I would say they are more breathable than my own skin, rapidly wicking away all my sweat and leaving my hands feeling cool and fresh, not clammy and soaked like other hiking/biking gloves. Perhaps the most surprising feature is that the gloves don’t warm up your hands. I would have thought that gloves, no matter how thin, would make my hands overheat, but no. I literally forget I am wearing these gloves every time. They keep my hands cool and dry even in 30 Celsius heat, in direct sunlight, whilst doing prolonged and intense exercise. Awesome! They also inhibit the dreaded “bar blisters” which was an unexpected bonus, I had expected such thin and ultralight fabric to wear through fairly quickly, but nope, these gloves are made of tougher stuff. Those itchy skin pads and painful blisters did not form throughout the whole 20hr race, much more than can be said for the hands of other competitors. Did I mention that my hands didn’t come back looking like the inside of a bacon buttie? The sun protection was flawless. I used it with the matching sleeves and suffered no sunburn whatsoever. It is a much better alternative to sun cream, as it doesn’t require application before you go in the sun, or reapplying, and as someone with badly UV sensitive skin I cannot recommend these enough. Save yourself a load of weight in sun cream on your next adventure: get these wicked gloves!
