The Capilene Air Balaclava uses some of Patagonia's most advanced fabric yet. Constructed from both merino wool and recycled polyester, your basically getting the best qualities of wool and synthetic in just one fabric. It looks like knitted sweater fabric with it's 3-D knit structure, but it's not thick and is actually very lightweight for the amount of warmth that it provides.
The material feels light and soft on your skin and stretches with you as you move. It offers amazing warmth and comfort, even insulating when wet and will resist odours for multiple use. It has a lot of stretch to it as well which makes it comfortable to wear for extended periods and when on the move.
This balaclava is more suited to sitting under a decent mountain hood or as a layering insulation piece, the open weave of this knitted balaclava doesn't offer much protection from driving winds.
