Ultralight and compact, this exceptionally comfortable mat is ideal when light and fast is your aim and getting a great night's sleep is essential for the next day's adventure.

Sea to Summit says

The Ultralight sleeping mat range has a single layer of medium resolution Air Sprung Cells™ to give you the lightest and smallest packed-volume mat without compromising comfort. These mats are ideal when going light and fast is your aim and getting a great night's sleep is essential for the next day's adventure. All Sea to Summit sleeping mats come with a quality stuff sack, a repair kit containing six self adhesive patches for repairing punctures in the field, and a spare silicone one-way valve flap.

Air Stream Pumpsack now integrated into the included stuff sack.

Our Verdict

The air sprung cells are the core technology of this mat, allowing you to have a comfortable nights sleep. Instead of the typical baffled construction, these sleeping mats are constructed using a matrix of air cells that move independently to conform to your body’s shape without affecting adjacent cells. Translated to backpacker-speak, that means you don’t flatten out spots under, say, your hipbones or shoulders.

The Sea to Summit UltraLight range is not as warm as the comfort Light range however it is lighter and has a much smaller pack size.

Now comes packaged with a Sea to Summit Airstream stuff sack.

Features

  • Multi-function valve for fast and easy inflation, deflation and fine tuning of air pressure
  • Thickness: 2 in / 5 cm
  • 40D rip-stop nylon face fabric offers the right balance between weight and durability
  • Our TPU lamination process - one used in the medical and aeronautical industries but unique to the outdoor industry - is vastly superior to the roll-to-roll lamination process that is commonly used in outdoor products at present. The TPU bonds better and more consistently, virtually eliminating delamination issues
  • An anti-microbial treatment is added to the TPU to prevent issues caused by warm, moist air trapped inside the mat
  • Extended storage instructions: mat should be laid flat, folded as few times as possible with valve open
  • Air Stream Pumpsack integrated into the included stuff sack

ASTM R-Value:

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.

You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.

In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.
