Multimat's Adventure Superlite Compact 25 Body-Shape Short Self-inflating Mat is a very packable, lightweight sleeping mat that offers great levels of insulation for backpackers looking to lighten their kit. The tough 20D rip-stop polyester fabric is durable and lightweight. The mat also comes with a handy repair kit. The Superlite 25 features high quality foam inside, for lasting performance & maximum inflation, with diamond cut-outs to reduce the weight of the mat. The mat is effective to -15C, which is enough to handle all most situations in the 4 seasons in the UK and Europe.

Multimat says:

Multimat Adventure Superlite Compact 25 Body-Shape Self Inflating Mat Multimat Adventure Range - Technically advanced lightweight and compact - The ultimate in weight reduction.

This range has been designed and manufactured focusing on the specific requirements of competitive racing and adventure sports. Offering the lightest and most compact options using the very latest ultra light materials meeting the highest standards for quality and reliability.

Multimat Adventure Superlite Compact 25 - self-inflating three quarter length mattress. The lightest self-inflating mat in the range - uses quality materials to keep weight to a minimum.

Self-inflating mats are the most popular choice for backpackers because they provide a good level of comfort and insulation from the ground, in addition they are relatively light and compact when deflated and rolled.

The two superlite mats in the Multimat Adventure range use a slightly lighter weight face material than the others in the range which is how weight is saved - though they are still a robust unit.

By changing the shape of the mat and losing some wasted material the Superlite 25 Short is now one of the lightest self-inflating mats around.

ASTM R-Value:

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.

You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.

In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.

Light but slippery!

It's good value and the stats add up on paper - light but offering good thermal properties. But the downside is that the material is less durable than other mats and thus more prone to punctures. Also the nylon has no traction compared to say the Thermarests. They will slip on tent groundsheets and your sleeping bag will slip on the top...very frustrating when trying to sleep. Shoe Goo applied to the 2 sides helps increase traction but still not great. I personally would pay the extra for a Thermarest having tried the two brands. Hope that helps you make an informed decision.
