This is the LW version of the Exped Downmat 9 so its one of the warmest mat we stock and is wider and longer than the standard. Features an integrated pump ensures swift and intuitive inflation of the mat.
Exceptionally warm, comfortable, and compact! This down filled airmat is exceptionally comfortable and warmer and lighter than any comparable mat. As nothing compresses better than down, it packs extremely small and tight. The integrated pump makes inflation swift and simple. The thickness of the mat absorbs all unevenness of the ground. The DownMat 9 is designed for extreme sub zero temperatures.
Top quality down insulation: tested according to IDFB standards, and certified by RDS, a stringent animal welfare standard.
This is the LW version of the Exped Downmat 9 so its the warmest mat we stock and is wider and longer than the standard. If you are wider or longer than the standard then this mat may be what you are looking for!
You can`t argue with the facts - the Exped Downmats are seriously warm and as they are essentially airbeds they are very comfortable as well. If you sleep cold or want a mat that can be used in cold weather then the Downmat could be a good choice.
We are impressed by the quality of construction and sheer attention to detail given to Exped products the integral pump works well and the mat is inflated in about a minute there is a return valve that allows air back to fill the pump chamber (as the pump chamber is located in one of the baffles this is necessary to have a completely inflated mat).
The valves are large and easy to use. Comes complete with stuffsack and repair kit.

From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18. This new standard is the sleeping mat equivalent to the EN rating for sleeping bags.
You can now directly compare the R-value of mats rated using the ASTM F3340-18 with confidence that is a fair and accurate comparison between mats. In simple terms, the higher the R-value, the warmer the mat.
In general terms, an R-value below 2.0 is for summer use, 2.0 to 4.0 is for cooler 3 season use and 4.0+ is for winter temperatures. This will be also be dependent on your sleeping bag, how cold you sleep etc. Please contact our customer service team if you need advice on choosing the right mat for your activity.
