Ultralight and packable quilts for camping and backpacking offer high-performance warmth and comfort. The 900-fill water-resistant down quilt keeps you warm and comfortable.

Therm-a-rest says:

For those that carry nothing but the essentials, the 19-ounce Vesper is your solution for a lighter pack and better nights at camp.

Featuring unrivaled packability and featherweight design, the Vesper 20F/-6C quilt provides no-frills camp comfort. The quilt uses thermally-efficient box baffled construction to maximize warmth and comfort for a high-performance, ultralight piece. The Vesper was designed with high-quality materials and Therm-a-Rest performance features like a SynergyLink™ Connector, a snap neck closure, perimeter side baffles and an insulated footbox to provide warmth and comfort in the backcountry. When compared to sleeping bags, the Vesper quilts save weight and pack smaller by utilizing the warmth of your insulated mattress. Storage sack and compression stuff sack included.

Nikwax Hydrophobic Down

Used in all Therm-a-Rest 3 and 4-season sleeping bags. Nikwax Hydrophobic Down absorbs 40% less moisture than untreated down. This keeps you warmer over a greater range of conditions, and allows it to dry and restore performance faster. And since all water-resistant down treatments wash out over time, Nikwax Hydrophobic Down is specially formulated to be easily retreated at home using Nikwax DownWash and DownProof, ensuring the long-term water-resistance performance of your bag.

In addition, unlike other treated down, Nikwax® Hydrophobic Down is a water-based formula that’s Flourocarbon-free (a.k.a. PFO’s, PFOA’s or PFC’s) and safe for you and the environment. We found this a particularly compelling reason to go with Nikwax, as questions are increasingly raised about the long-term effects of these chemicals and their persistence in our bodies and the environment.

ThermaCapture

ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology is a proprietary reflective coating that we apply to a range of surfaces. By reflecting radiant heat back to your body that is otherwise lost, this extremely lightweight coating turns that surface into a very efficient heat reflector, amplifying warmth without the excess weight or bulk of added, conventional insulating materials.

Therm-a-Rest's Vesper 35 UL Down Quilt is our only quilt with a comfort limit of  -6C. This outstanding warmth to weight ratio is achieved by using the highest quality responsibly sourced down expertly zoned in a box wall construction. The quilt is lined with ThermaCapture to trap body heat keeping you nice and toasty.

The foot box to is quite narrow but this helps with a close fit around the end of your mat. There is a single (potentially flimsy) strap to keep the quilt attached to a sleeping mat to help hold in your body warmth. The strap can be removed if you want to save a few grams. As you would expect with such a lightweight quilt the pack size is very small.

Good for thru hiking - cozy, light, comfy

I've used this quilt for several longish hikes for up to a month at a time in the Pyrenees and Alps, in the summer and colder seasons but sleeping above 2500 metres it is chilly. I also used it for a winter overnighter in full snow conditions. Generally, I love it. So light and packable, but still warm and fluffy - almost surprisingly so since, as another reviewer pointed out, you can kind of see through it and see that the down is not always evenly distributed. For some reason, this seems to not matter. It still feels like wrapping myself in a warm cloud. That said, I am happy in this quilt down to about zero, although I wear leggings and a merino long sleeve at that temp. When I used it during proper winter conditions at -10 and sleeping on snow, I was fully aware that I was pushing it, and use it together with a summer down bag and a lot of clothes. I did not expect this to keep me toasty at -6, but for me it really works well down to just above freezing. It's comfy, practical, versatile, very usable for thru hikes where weight is an issue, and for me a quilt is just so much more comfortable than a bag.

Overrated

Used the quilt on several cold nights. 1 night at around 1000m elevation in snow around -2 degrees C and 1 night at lower elevation on a cold damp night around -2 degrees C. I was using a good pad with a high R-Rating for both nights, but even with several layers on including a down jacket and hat, I was still pretty cold. I'm not sure if it is my quilt in particular, but the down seems very sparse in places around the torso where it is most needed, and in one section you can see more daylight than down. Really disappointed in what I thought would be a good quality product and would get me to the temperatures I hoped for, especially for the price.
