Big Agnes' 2020 V Notch synthetic sleeping bag has been redesigned with the inclusion of extra insulation and updated fabrics. The star of the show is still the Primaloft Hi Loft Silver Ultra insulation which delivers a low weight bag with a great summer temperature rating of 4C.

Even in those warm summer months, as soon as you get up high or down low near water, that chilly quilt or bulky old bag you've been using since high school is not cutting it. The V Notch UL is a highly compressible sleeping bag with a cozy lining of incredibly lightweight and packable Primaloft® Hi-Loft Ultra Silver insulation. It will keep you warm and keep your pack light, whether that's a backpack, bikepack or packraft.
Our Verdict
As a fast and light synthetic option Big Agnes' 2020 V Notch UL ticks all the boxes, 3/4 length zip, cinchable hood and shaped footbox. The hood is quite simple, which is what you would expect on a summer weight bag. Although Big Agnes still don't get their sleeping bags EN tested but they do quote a temperature rating of 4C that should be about equivalent to the EN 'Comfort Limit'.
On to the bag itself - it's heavier than the down equivalent but that isn't a surprise, its about 170 grams different, but there's usually a reason why someone chooses synthetic over down such as performance when wet, the type of conditions you'd be using it in such as bivy trips or even perhaps an allergy of down. Weight-wise it compares well with other synthetics and is at the higher performance end.
