Nemo's Siren down quilt combines ultralight fabrics with 285grams of high quality down to create a backless sleeping system with generous sides and some neat design features.

Nemo says: It's easy to make things lightweight. They challenge is to make them as light as they can be without going to far. Siren takes away everything extra without taking away the promise of a warm and draft-free nights sleep.

Nemo specialise in sleeping gear that's well-designed, tried and tested. They aim to make ightweight products that nevertheless add comfort to your nights sleep. The 2016 Siren Down Quilt/Sleeping System, is a good case in point - its a backless quilt that cuddles your sleeping pad and is kept in place using and ultralight cord system under the mat.

Not much revolutionary yet, the Nemo difference is that even though they are trying to make the bag as light as possible they have also made is quite big - it almost has the full girth of a sleeping bag so when you need to cinch it in to deal with a cold spell it does it easily, with little chance of drafty gaps.

It also has a really generous footbox and a press stud fixing at shoulder level to assist with keeping things tight. On most nights though, being a quilt, you can sleep much as you do at home with the luxury of a loose covering.

Using ultralight-weight fabrics the weight of the bag compared to others with 285grams of down inside is among the lowest and the rating the Siren achieves is equivalent. So, If you're looking for a quilt sleeping solution but still need to be ultralight the Siren could be a good choice, it will fit any full length mat and remember to add comfort with a mat sheet - blimey - a sheet!

We like that it has two loops at the shoulder which we think are for attaching a pillow - a stray pillow is one of my real bug bears when backpacking so this really appeals to me.

I have had this for a few months now, it is simply incredible. It is very big when you have got it out and allowed it to loft ~30 minutes is enough. I used it on a two week long hiking trip in norway and it was perfect, its very easy to dry out as it has several points you can peg or use rocks to hold in place. The quilt wraps around you very nicely, and if you have a nice sleeping mat it really can rival a bed! it packs down unbelievably tiny but i would reccomend using the given stuff sack and then it has some squeeze room so it doesnt leave gaps in your pack. Service was also brilliant, given the weight and temperature rating of this bag (it did go negative and i was warm every night) i knew i wanted it for my upcoming trip, so i emailed in and they placed a special order for me with no bother! amazing service and amazing product. I have not seen this anywhere else and if it is in stock I would snap it up!

My first quilt, highly recommended

I've just tried this quilt for 2 nights on the Cotswold Way, and I love it. It's incredibly light, and doesn't look like it could keep you warm, but it really does. It did get a little chilly one night (perhaps about 10 degrees) so I popped some socks on and was fine, however, I am a very cold sleeper, and would have suffered the same in my -3 rated full bag. My sleeping pad tucked nicely in, and I used my silk liner.
I think this is going to be perfect for a long hike in the Pyrenees.
