Another unique piece of kit from Sierra Designs. The Nitro Quilt is generously sized and has features that allow you to wrap up warm like you're in a sleeping bag when the temperatures drop. Lightweight, packable and great fun to use.
Sierra Designs says:
Part blanket, part bag, all cozy, the Nitro Quilt brings the best of both worlds together in this backcountry collision of features. With an integrated hood plus a hand/arm pocket, you can seal in warmth and still have room to move around.

Sierra Design's Nitro Quilt is one of the most interesting quilts out there. It has the benefits of being low weight, very packable and versatile for changing conditions. However, it also has a number of unique features that will make it more appealing to campers who've never used a quilt before. Firstly, there's the shape, the generous size and tapered design keeps your feet covered and warm while allowing enough extra width to wrap yourself up in it. The top corners come with little pockets so you can really get the quilt tight in to reduce heat loss. There is also the hidden hood, essentially it's a pocket for your head so you can have your face out through the hole but the rest of your head covered during colder conditions.
The version of the Nitro Quilt uses 289g of 800 fill power down to get a comfort limit of 3°C. The down use is hydrophobically treated in case you encounter damp conditions while the 15D outer fabric is lightweight but durable enough for regular use. The design really is unique as far as we've seen and it's convinced a few of our staff to use a quilt for the first time and they haven't been disappointed.
