The updated AirPillow from Exped is even lighter in weight and more comfortable. It is a great little pillow with a small pack size. Ideal for camping, backpacking and expeditions.

Exped says:

Superbly comfortable ultra lightweight Air Pillow. Adjustable height for side and back sleepers. Anatomical shape holds head in place. Sturdy flat valve for inflation and deflation with deflation pin.

Exped's 2020 Air Pillow UL provides a good amount of comfort for your night at camp with a minimal carry weight. For just 54g I am always willing to carry an inflatable pillow for the comfort I get from it. I've found it makes the difference for a good nights sleep. The low weight, very small pack size is hardly a sacrifice for the level of comfortable.

The AirPillow UL has a simple and highly effective valve for quick inflation and deflation. You can easily control the amount of air you put in it to get the right level of firmness for you. The new GripSkin coating on both sides reduces the amount of times you wake due to an escaped pillow and it is still comfortable to sleep on.

Incredibly light and packable

Having taken this pillow on a couple of trips, I am very pleased with it. With such a small pack size and weight, it is a welcome addition to my pack. I was concerned about it not having a case, but the outer is quite soft and comfortable on the skin. Having recently changed to using a quilt, the strap loops on the side of the pillow will be useful to stop the pillow going for a walk in the middle of the night (an issue with any pillow). I don't see an obvious product for sorting this but some 12mm elastic webbing from eBay should do it.

Surprisingly comfortable!

I’ve previously owned the Decathlon basic inflatable pillow and had to get rid of it because I’m a side sleeper and it was so uncomfortable. I was sceptical about going back to a pillow without a foam topper, but the weight of this drew me in. I will say that of course pillows with foam toppers are more comfortable, but I actually still find this really comfortable and pretty soft, when a little air is let out of it. I absolutely love that it has pad straps, because pillows running off into the corner of your tent in the night is incredibly annoying. It’s super light too - the medium comes out at 50g on my scale without the bag or the tiny de-inflation pin (which you don’t actually need to de-inflate it). Bag = 3g, de-inflation pin = 1g. Packed up, it is absolutely minuscule. I’m extremely impressed with this pillow and will be using it as my standard from now on.
