The Desert Kat is loaded with features to help make that ultra distance more enjoyable out on the trail. With cutting edge design, amazing levels of adjustability and comfort this pack will allow you to perform at your maximum when hitting the trails and mountains at speed or just heading out for a walk in the hills.
For medium- and long-distance trail runners, shoulder straps with adjustable length, fast compression system with Dyneema pull-cord, extraordinary lightweight and durable
Ferrino's Zaino Desert Kat 20L is certainly a design like no other. With the Dyneema composite fabric you get high strength, durability and super light weight. However, the look of this fabric will put some off as it can't be coloured and has a crinkled, plastic look and feel to it. The shoulder straps can be moved through large internal Velcro adjusters to suit different wearers and the shoulder straps themselves are quite well padded and comfortable to wear on longer runs. The side straps lack any padding but do sit close and comfortably around the chest to eliminate any bounce once fully adjusted.
The Desert Kat has so many storage options it's great. The main section has two large mesh drop pockets and a decent sized stretchy mesh pocket that zips closed for important things like car keys, wallet or phone. There is a bottom section to the pack which can be accessed internally or through a small zip on the side of the pack which means you can divide and organise your kit much more effectively.
The two hip belt pockets are good sizes and the shoulder straps have two stretch mesh pockets for snacks, gels or soft flasks. There are numerous gear loops, straps and additional storage points on the outside of the pack which includes pole attachments. The pack also has a compression system with cords that can be pulled from the hip belt that tighten up the pack down both sides. If you can get over the look and feel of the Dyneema fabric this is a top quality, high performance pack.
