Comfortable in even the most challenging environments the Fastpack will change the way you think about packs.

Ultimate Direction says:

People wanted more and they got it - the "No Excuses" Fastpack 45.

Ultimate Direction's Fastpack 45 is the biggest in the range but it's still highly versatile and suitable for trail and mountain running, fast-packing and hiking, cycling, travel and general use. The size of the main compartment and the range of stretch mesh, drop, secure zip pockets and daisy chains mean this this pack is great for organising your kit.

The mesh back panel, shoulder straps and waist belt is super breathable making them really comfortable on long and sweaty outings. There is a good level of adjustability in the packs so you can try to eliminate any bounce from running. When the packs are at full weight with overnight kit this is a bit more difficult to achieve but the pack remains surprisingly comfortable.

The Fastpack has been used on a number of multi-day mountain running and fast-packing trips and has performed brilliantly. Even the stretch mesh pockets have impressed as they are much more durable than first expected. The roll-top and compression straps add to the versatility by allowing you to add more or less kit while retaining the comfortable and stability depending on your activity.

Great, comfortable, pack with generous capacity

The comfort and design detailing of this pack are fantastic. Even with moderate (10kg) load it is still comfortable with good load press across the broad shoulder straps.
At 45L and with numerous stuff pockets and storage places it is easily enough for a multi day trip without much stress about space. Because of the one piece design of the back and straps it feels more like putting on an item of clothing instead of a backpack. Sits snugly with adjustment and I run with mine without any problems. A nice feature are the strap pockets you can load up with goodies, ‘phone and water. I use a 600ml bottle in the right hand bottle pocket, which is a nice bit of weight brought to the front for your centre of gravity.
Unlike other sacks I’ve owned, the side mesh pockets can be reached without dislocating your shoulder. All in all, very handy storage when you want to keep moving. The waist belt (no pockets on this) has very generous straps and I’ve cut mine down after testing with the maximum amount of clothing I’d wear with it on. If you want to keep them there are elastic rings to tuck it away. I could go on for a while about all the little features, daisy chains, elastic rings for poles (don’t use ‘em myself, but they can be fitted to the chest straps and according to other reviewers keep folded poles handy but not in the way of an arm swing), zip pockets, weatherproof pocket in the back, external strapping points, big main pocket etc. No shortage for multiple uses. Massive mesh packet at the back, perfect for wet gear.
If you pushed me, the only thing I would point out is that the front straps with pockets are warm, which is great for cold weather running, but noticeable if it’s 20 degrees Centigrade. Not a big deal, but if you’re used to ‘normal’ straps you’ll feel less heat loss at the front. Not sure how they’ve pulled it off for the weight and more than I’ve ever paid for a pack but would not hesitate to repeat the purchase if I needed to. Colour is great and looks fantastic on. Couldn’t be happier.
