A simple, single-pull main closure makes loading a cinch. This classic top-loader design is built of burly yet light fabric that makes this pack equally at home on the trail or the train. Made with tough 100% recycled nylon with a 100% recycled polyester lining.
The Ultralight Black Hole® Pack 20L weighs less than your cup of morning coffee, yet provides burly protection for all your gear whether you’re on the trail, the train or making your way through a cold drizzle. Made from our Ultralight Black Hole® fabric—a lightweight, all-recycled nylon ripstop that’s highly packable, weather-resistant and tough. The main compartment holds your lunch, sweater and rain shell; it opens and closes with a simple, single-pull drawcord so you can access your gear quickly and easily. Sized for essentials, the zippered stash pocket on the pack’s lid keeps your passport, sunglasses and phone handy. You can lash extra gear like a yoga pad or bike helmet to the exterior via the vertical micro daisy chain.
The shoulder straps and back panel feature lightweight and highly breathable mesh to dry quickly and provide a cooling airflow to keep you from overheating. When not in use, the Ultralight Black Hole® Pack 20L stuffs into its own pocket. Made from 2.4-oz 70-denier 100% recycled nylon (50% postconsumer recycled/22% solution-dyed) ripstop treated with a silicone face coating and a polyurethane back coating and lined with 3.3-oz 200-denier 100% recycled polyester with a polyurethane coating and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Patagonia's Ultralight Black Hole Pack manages to creep under 300g whilst still providing a lot of the comforts of a heavier pack. The shoulder straps feature a nice amount of padding which will allow you to carry a little bit more weight whilst still being comfortable. This padding carries on from the straps down the back panel of the pack which will help smooth out the contents of the pack. This mesh will also go someway to stopping you getting a sweaty back which is often the problem with these ultralight day packs.
The pack folds away simply into an internal zipped pocket and actually goes down to a decent packed size, there are ultralight day packs out there that pack away much smaller, but these don't have anything like the feature set that this Patagonia pack does.
