The CDT continues to be a proven suitable for thru-hikes dayhikes and any distance backcountry forays. Contoured shoulder straps and a re-designed hipbelt result in a comfortable carry while (5) external pockets aid in easily accessed on-trail organization.

Bottom Line? A comfortable durable highly functional pack.

If your gear base weight is already down to 20lbs or so then the CDT could be your next pack - even though its tough the low weight is amazing. It can be reduced further by permanently removing features which some will want to do. Personally I don`t like taking a knife to a new pack but I`d certainly ditch the internal sleeve and padded backpanel to save 74g.

The CDT is what ultralighters crave - a very simple sack with practical compartments.

Fantastic rucksack

I have had this rucksack several years now, and I love it. It is a perfect size, and if you pack carefully it is really stable. I often camp with my dog, who has a cut down closed cell carry mat for his bed. This, folded, goes down the back closest to my spine for cushioning, then tent, sleeping bag, stove food and clothing fit inside, one side pocket for water and the other for my stove. I love the little zip pockets on the waistband, which are perfect for things you're going to need often. One of mine is for dog treats, the other for human treats. Mesh pocket on the back is perfect for wet / rain gear. It is over a kilo lighter than my previous sack, with no sacrifices to comfort or convenience. I typically carry 9-10kg, and it is great. Really well designed and put together, and after 4+ years it is lasting well.
