The Ultrahike is an ultra-lightweight, mid-volume backpack that is ideal for 3–7 day backpacking trips.

At 1.25 kg, the Ultrahike 60 is exceptionally light for a rucksack with such a comfortable carry, weighing 500–700 g less than most other backpacks with comparable back systems. It has a fixed back length, available in two sizes.

All the seams on the main body and lid are either welded or taped, which means the Ultrahike 60 is virtually waterproof and ideal for use in wet weather. (For technical reasons the seams attaching the back panel cannot be sealed but are largely protected from the weather by the wearer’s own back.)

The hallmarks of Lightwave products are design and durability - they occupy the gap between very light no frills options and heavier more traditional gear. Lightwave Packs are no exception - slightly heavier than an ultralight pack but with a robust internal frame tough fabrics and a well thought out carry system - they fit their role perfectly.

Information from Lightwave recommend the Ultrahike as comfortable for loads up to 18kg (40lbs).

We weighed the packs and got: M2 weighs 1205g M3 weighs 1225g

`Hi Mark. I have just completed the Land`s End to John O`Groats walk. I started on March 16th and finished on June 19th. Earlier this year you sold me some gear which in the event was vital in completing the walk successfully. Foremost was the Big Agnes Fly Creek 2.

It was superb. I walked throughout April officially the wettest on record I got the tent up quickly it was spacious and took all my gear so I was never wet. This tent made my life a lot easier. I am 74 and had that birthday on the trek. The Exped mat meant that every night I had a comfortable sleep and could sit in the tent with the conversion to a chair.

I will also single out the Lightwave rucksack which contributed to the walks success. I feel that it is not an exaggeration to state that without the tent and Exoed mat I would have been struggling. I hope you find these comments useful when in the future you get asked about long-distance walking especially by older people.   Regards Alan Brookes

Ultrahike 60

Best sack for fit and weight since my original Lowe Alpine Alpamayo ( which was heavier because of the adjustable back system and separate lower compartment, otherwise fitted like a glove ). Mark off for not utilising all that space on the back for a net pocket. That would make it perfect.
