The Phantom 25 is well thought out and customisable rucksack. Weight can be shaved off if required and with a plethora of features and pockets so you can adapt the the pack to meet your storage needs.

OMM says:

The ultimate VestPack for adventures & racing. Stabilised around your spine our unique 7 point harness connects the pack with the runner’s spine via a top yoke harness to provide the most stable carry possible. The yoke harness also frees the shoulders allowing a more energy efficient running action. Dual V-shaped anchors hug the waist to provide a secure fit and control bounce & swing when on uneven ground.

OMM's classic Phantom 25 Rucksack has been updated. Somehow OMM have manged to shave a few more grams off the extremely versatile and tenacious rucksack bag without compromising on features.

The bag weighs in at 690g but can be reduced to a leaner weight by removing the back support which doubles as a thin sleeping mat for the hard core. Alternatively the mat can add warmth to your sleeping system or be used as a comfy sit mat. You can also remove the carbon poles for an even lighter sack, or they can be replaced with tent poles to maximise precious space.

Customisation does not stop there, as there, as there is also a titanium tent peg which can be removed and adjusted to change the back length. The narrow connection behind the neck allow the spine of the sack to remain straight and in place whilst the shoulders rotate with your arm movements during a run, so you can concentrate on your own performance.

Whilst the Phantom 25 is compact, there are still plenty of storage compartments, including zip pockets on each hip pad, and mesh panels on the shoulder pads for stowing water and hydration gels. In addition to the numerous pockets, there are also plenty of features which allow you to attach additional items to the bag if required. Things like water bottles can be attached to the straps, and there are loops on the bottom of the sack for extra stowage and/or towing on adventure races.

Due to its extreme abrasion resistance, the 30D, Dyneema fabric is tough and durable, allowing it to cope with unfavourable weather and the inevitable knocks during fast paced competitions. So, if you want a high performance and adaptable rucksack that will serve you well on your bike or in the hills, this is probably the one for you.

Almost perfect...

Very impressed with this pack, it's light, comfortable and with just enough stash pockets for grabbing and storing kit/ food on the move. The yoke system works really well and the pack remains comfortable and stable on long missions, whether you are running, fast-packing, hiking or scrabbling. The fabric is shower proof but not drench proof (more waterproof than the UD Fast Packs though). The pack has plenty of storage loops, which also help you change the fastenings to maximise stability, and is compatible with the OMM Chest Pod. There's a few niggles such as the lid closure not being secure if the pack is less than half full, and the tent peg that holds the yoke system in place can slip out of place, but this is easily fixed. My only real bugbear is that there is nowhere to store poles up front! You can fold and store them into the big mesh pouches on the back and sides, but that requires taking the pack off. Seems like a bit of an over sight to me, and would only require a few extra bungie loops on the front. A small omission that would otherwise get this pack a solid 5 stars, as I have yet to try a pack more comfortable and stable.
