Montane's Grand Tour is a lightweight backpacking rucksack made from durable fabric and with many useful features that will make carrying this pack a breeze.
ULTRA-DISTANCE TRAIL TOURING SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT BACKPACK
Designed to be used on long distance trail tours of this world from the Pacific Crest Trail to the Great Himalayan Trail.
The Grand Tour is exceptionally light at 1100g (stripped weight) despite featuring a back system that will provide comfort and technical details specifically designed for long distance treks.
The strong and lightweight `VertErgo Tour` back system can be tailored to the individual user and support load carrying for long periods of time whilst the RAPTOR ZERO fabric in the main body of the pack ensures it is light but strong.

This is an excellent effort by Montane to produce a backpacking rucksack without compromising on comfort or features. Load transfer to the hips is achieved by a well designed internal frame and nicely padded hipbelt it works very well.
The Grand Tour is not for those people who are obsessed with weight reduction rather its for those who want a well designed and well featured pack thats also tough enough to survive weeks on the trail without demanding too much by way of careful use. The feature list is long so I won`t repeat it here - just to say that we especially like the decent hip belt pockets but we think the chest strap is too stretchy.
You can save weight by removing the top section of the frame thus saving about 200grams and if you`re only carrying moderate weights then with careful packing it will remain comfortable this could be throwing the baby out with the bathwater though as the highly effective weight transfer is what this pack is all about.
For heavy loads the pack could do with some stability straps linked to the hipfins but this is just being picky.
