Lightwave says:

Lightwave’s Fastpack rucksacks are available in 30-litre, 40-litre and 50-litre models. They are comfortable, lightweight and highly water-resistant daysacks that are ideal for winter day trips and lightweight weekend hiking trips. They are exceptionally light – around 1.15 kg – and sturdy, being constructed from mid-weight fabrics.

The 40 and 50 litre models have aluminium stays in the back system which allow them to support loads of 9–12 kg comfortably, and the close-fitting design of the back panel ensures good carrying stability. The Fastpack 30 has a HDPE (high density polypropylene) panel to give some support , stiffness and protection to the moulded foam back panel.

All the seams on the main body and lid are either welded or taped, making the Fastpack quite weatherproof and ideal for use in wet or wintery climates. (For technical reasons the seams attaching the back panel cannot be sealed, but these are largely protected from the weather by the wearer’s own back.)

The Fastpack 40 & 50 also have ski-holders at the base of each side that, combined with the side-compression system, can be used to carry skis securely.

The hallmarks of Lightwave products are design and durability - they occupy the gap between very light no frills options and heavier more traditional gear. Lightwave Packs are no exception - slightly heavier than an ultralight pack but with a robust internal frame tough fabrics and a well thought out carry system - they fit their role perfectly.

The FASTPACK series is designed for Ultralightweight trekking Weekend backpacking and Ski touring. The 25lbs carry weight is ideal for ultralight backpacking loads and the 50 litre capacity offers plenty of space for additional or bulky items such as a closed cell foam mat.

One of our customers used the pack on his Lands End to John O'Groats walk, he had this to say:

"The Lightwave Fastpack 50 was an excellent choice for me, it was comfortable and the frame fitted well. As Mark had said it is virtually waterproof although did get a bit damp on the couple of days it rained non-stop all day. In the 75 days I was actually walking I was carrying between 11 and 12 kilos depending on how much food and water I needed. The mesh side pockets did develop some holes but that was mainly due to abrasion when negotiating narrow stone stiles. One of the fastenings partly broke, which I feel should not have been the case. Can you supply a replacement?" Courtesy Trevor James.
