Terra Nova's Laser 25 is a minimalist pack with 8 external pockets (two of them for bottles) and a decent hipbelt making it an ideal Adventure Racing or ultralight backpacking rucksack.
Terra Nova says:
Our extensive knowledge and development of lightweight materials and design has enabled us to produce a range of lightweight days packs.
The Laser 25 is a 25 litre pack with internal pocket and access points for a hydration system. Full length water resistant zip, plenty of external storage with exterior mesh pockets, handy zipped hip pockets, useful top zip pocket and compression cords. Padded back, hips and shoulder straps plus adjustable chest strap with safety whistle and reflective detail all for just 365g.
Designed for lightweight day use, adventure races and mountain biking.
Terra Nova's Laser 25 is a super lightweight pack with a comprehensive set of features that make it ideal as an adventure racing pack or ultralight backpacking pack for short excursions with ultralight kit. The back panel is lightly padded to provide a bit of comfort but the wide fins of the hipbelt allow the pack to sit comfortably on your back.
Frameless packs are not as good at transferring weight to your hips than ones with internal frames and this one is no exception, however by keeping the overall weight of your kit down you can still achieve a comfortable carry, especially with careful packing.
There's a particularly good pocket arrangement on the hipfins, with a zipped pocket and a bottle holder pocket on each side. This is pretty much ideal and keeping your water on your waist makes sense.
Other than this you get external pockets galore and a front access zip to the main compartment, the base is a heavier material for durability.
In our experience the zips on the Terra Nova Laser packs aren't the strongest. They work perfectly unless you are someone who tends to cram their pack full to bursting. If this is the case perhaps look for an alternative pack with a different method of closure.
