Gossamer Gear's new Gorilla 50 sees an additional 10L in capacity with an overall weight reduction on the previous version. This already ultralight rucksack is a great option for gram counters who still want a full feature set.
Gossamer Gear says:
Mega-versatile, incredibly light, and insanely durable - this is the pack for you hardcore ultralight, plan-ahead thru hikers, and minimalist warriors. Features? This animal is loaded. You get a removable internal frame, external pockets - including that awesome big stretchy one on the back - quick-access fold over lid, durable and superlight custom fabrics, and a bunch of other stuff.
Gossamer Gear's Gorilla 50 Ultralight Rucksack has been updated with improvements to the foam used in the shoulder and hip belts, the removable foam back pad. There is also an additional increase in the capacity with an extra 10L provided. Finally, this version comes with a pre-installed hip belt that has improved shaping and pockets. The hipbelt provided with this pack is a medium size so, if you need a small or large size it will need to be bought separately. It is still a tough and durable pack despite its lower weight. The pack doesn't lack for features.
The bag gives the appearance of a roll top enclosure but you get a pair of clips to narrow the entrance then the top folds down to be closed with compression straps to keep your pack contents secure. The fold over top has a zipped pocket. The shoulder straps have a lot of comfortable air mesh padding. The pack also has 2 side pockets suitable for water bottles and a very large mesh pocket for further storage options. There are 2 compression straps on both side panels. There is a lashing loop which could be used as an ice axe holder but I'm not convinced how effective it would be.
