Force Ten's Alpine series rucksacks are super durable with a range of user-inspired features that make them easy to use for a wide range of alpine activities.
Force Ten says: Force Ten's customisable Alpine packs are a range of 'clean and light' rucksacks which have been extensively tested and refined by our F10 Athletes. Designed for alpinists and adventure sports enthusiasts looking for light, multi-functional kit.
Force Ten's Alpine 25 Rucksack has clearly been designed by users, you can tell by the attention to detail and some of the key features. Immediately we picked up on the long cord loops used as zip pullers, ideal for cold hands or when wearing gloves.
The other thing that struck us was that the fabric and construction of the pack have been selected for their toughness. The zips are chunky water resistant types and the fabric is heavy enough to be chucked about a rock face without worrying about failure. Even the stitching method, with copious bar tacks, has clearly been designed with durability in mind.
However its also evident that Force Ten have looked at saving weight in areas where durability is not compromised - the daisy chain gear loops and narrow compression webbing are good examples of this.
Feature wise the pack has a stiff framesheet providing stability. The pack comes with a wide webbing removable hipbelt which further stabilises the pack. However the pack has all the fittings to receive the much better hipbelt supplied with the 45 Litre pack which offers a much better 'carry'. No sign of that belt being sold as an extra though. The back panel is padded and fits closely so there's no pretense of a vented back.
The main compartment is accessed by a perimeter zip at the top of the pack and the lid also has a pocket for small items. The climbing features are comprehensive and I won't repeat the list here - the Alpine Packs are super tough, well designed climbing and alpine packs coming in at very reasonable weights.
