Black Diamond's Ion Headlamp has a good output (100 Lumens) for such a lightweight unit and the push button housing is pretty simple to operate making it ideal for ultralight enthusiasts.
Black Diamond says:
Our smallest, lightest and most compact fully functional headlamp that runs on AAA batteries, the Ion features a powerful, modern design for ultralight outings and emergency use.
Extremely compact and powerful, the fully redesigned Black Diamond Ion headlamp packs 100 lumens of power into a tiny package for just-in-case lighting and fast missions. With a push button housing that lets you easily switch from full power to dimmed, strobe or red night vision, the Ion has the functionality of a bigger light, with none of the extra weight.
Black Diamond's Ion Headlamp is an ultralight headlamp with a very good light output for its size and weight, as well as a range of useful modes. Most usefully you can dim the light output to suit what you are doing and it also has a locking feature to prevent it being turned on by accident in your pack.
One of the main changes in the updated Ion (other than the lumens) is that the functions are now accessed by a traditional push button instead of the touch sensitive housing - less fiddly.
Traditional AAA batteries give you 6 hours on the maximum setting but 180 hours on the minimum (6 Lumens). Stronger lumens than the past season version, but a slightly lower battery life too.
