The Thermo Pocket is a handy piece of kit that helps with making and eating your food pouches. The insulated pouch keeps heat in which helps re-hydrate/cook the food more efficiently.

Gram-counter Gear says:

With a lightweight, slim packable design, the Thermo Pocket lets you bring hot or cold meals with you on the go. Whether you’re packing a lunch for a hike or re-hydrating a meal while camping, the simple but effective insulated pouch uses a combination of air pockets and reflective material to keep your food at the right temperature. At just 34 grams, the pouch is easy to carry and won’t add much weight to your pack. Finally, it features a sliding zip seal closure and fold out flat bottom so you don't have to worry about it when your meal is in there.

Gram-counter Gear's Thermo Pocket Food Pouch retain the heat from the boiling water for a good amount of time and this does speed up the re-hydration somewhat as the water is maintained at a higher temperature for a longer time. The real benefit comes in colder conditions where your food stay hotter for a lot longer with the dual benefit of the food pouch being insulated from your hands, making it easier to handle when you're eating.

At just 34g and with the fold flat design it takes up next to no room in your pack and does make things easier at meal times. I now take this on every camp where I'll be using food pouches.

Does what it says on the pouch

Tried using the pouch while camping in temperatures of 3 or 4 degrees Celsius and for meals taking 10 up to 15 minutes to reconstitute. The pouch worked well keeping the contents hot for that time. It's easy to use and large enough for any of the freeze dried meals sold by Ultralight Outdoor Gear. A wide base means it stands on the ground.
