There are two main advantages of these crampons, one of which is the low weight which is helped by the cord-tec connection between the front and rear sections, this rope lowers weight compared to metal connections and allows the crampons to be packed without the added bulk. Secondly is the ability to use these with any boots/shoe so you don't have to go out and pay extra for compatible footwear so you can always throw these in your pack for those 'just in case' conditions.
