Trek'N Eat says:
Vegan is IN. That’s why Trek’n Eat is offering yet another vegan meal. Vegetable Jambalaya is based on long-grain rice and is particular at home in Cajun and Creole cuisine. Of course, New Orleans, in the U.S. state of Louisiana, is actually the culinary capital of Jambalaya, but now outdoor enthusiasts can prepare this unique taste experience anywhere in the world. The traditionally vibrant spice combination awakens all of the senses in outdoor life. Simply pour boiling water into the pouch to the fill line, stir well, and after two minutes you’re ready to be transported directly to the Big Easy via your taste buds. All ingredients are of course purely plant based, gluten free and low fat.
Trek'N Eat offer unique freeze-dried foods that can be easily prepared with hot water. Of course staff were eager to try these and quickly found that they offered a great 'all natural' taste thanks to the fact they don't add preservatives, colourants, or flavour enhancing additives.
You will probably notice that most Trek'n Eat foods have a high calorie count of around 600 calories per package, this is to cover the increased energy consumption during sports activities. All the meals are packaged in waterproof resealable standing pouches which is ideal for those who might not finish all the food at once and don't want to leave a mess in your rucksack.

|8.0||MARK'S TASTE TEST - Takes more water than other brands of freeze dried food at 490ml but you only have to wait for 2 minutes compared with 10-15 for other brands, potentially this means it will be hotter when you are eating it although I always wrap my meal in an insulating layer (usually a down jacket) while it’s reconstituting. Smell was lovely, rice and vegetables were very well reconstituted, lovely meal for freeze dried. 8/10 for flavour, Jambalaya flavour was as you would expect. Definitely One of the better meals I’ve tasted.|
