Expedition Foods’ delicious light-weight meals provide the perfect nutrition for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Freeze-drying food is the most successful method of preservation, making it taste better, look better, weigh less and last longer.

Expedition Foods says:

Chicken Rice with Vegetables

Preparation: Remove the oxygen absorber (sachet) from inside the pouch. Add 180ml of boiling water, stir the contents, and then close the bag and wait 5-8 minutes for the food to re-hydrate.

Cold water will suffice in an emergency, however the re-hydration time is much longer. The oxygen absorber helps maintain product freshness and is non toxic. Do not eat.

Expedition Foods meals have a long shelf life of up to 5 years.

Expedition Foods offers a good variety of main meals and desserts and a choice of serving sizes with their High Energy (800+ kcal), Regular Serving (450 kcal) and Extreme Energy or Regular Serving for Two (1000 kcal) ranges.

Tasty and not bland

Out of 4 main meals this was my favourite - used on the GR11 in Spain. The combination of the ingredients is just right particularly the sweet corn and peas. The taste is chicken and rice with vegetable rather than some others which all taste the same. I have a small spork so I should have cut down the pack before eating to make it a more comfortable experience and to stop my hand getting a little covered in gravy. Definitely worth waiting the 8 (or even more) minutes so it's less chewy.
