The Trek'n Eat product range consists of complete meals, vegetarian meals, soups, vegetables and other diverse nutritional items from breakfast to dessert. All that is required to restore the freeze-dried ingredients is hot water.
Trek'N Eat says:
Named for the Russian royal Stroganoff family, our Trek’n Eat version of the classic meal is made of beef and rice. With it, we pay culinary homage to its namesake and to late 19th Century St. Petersburg so we can offer a gourmet treat with epicurean taste. Ist flavor can be individually refined by adding extras such as paprika, tarragon, vinegar, sherry, cognac or white wine, depending on what you have along with you. But of course even without adding any extras our Beef Stroganoff with Rice remains a hearty classic for outdoor meals – a favorite that has found fans far beyond the borders of the northwestern Russian metropolis with its stirring 200-year history.
Trek'N Eat offer unique freeze-dried foods that can be easily prepared with hot water. Of course staff were eager to try these and quickly found that they offered a great 'all natural' taste thanks to the fact they don't add preservatives, colourants, or flavour enhancing additives.
You will probably notice that most Trek'n Eat foods have a high calorie count of around 600 calories per package, this is to cover the increased energy consumption during sports activities. All the meals are packaged in waterproof resealable standing pouches which is ideal for those who might not finish all the food at once and don't want to leave a mess in your rucksack.
STAFF'S TASTE TEST - This Stroganoff scored well on flavour with all of our staff commenting on how 'beefy' it tasted but not necessarily strong on the flavours you expect from stroganoff. There were some negative comments about the lack of actual beef in the meal despite the taste. This reconstituted well and had a good consistency which every enjoyed.
