AMK says:

Warmth and durability for any season! The SOL Thermal bivvy's metalized non-woven fabric provides waterproof protection from the elements while reflecting 80% of your body's heat back to you. The SOL Thermal bivvy offers more versatility than traditional emergency sleeping bags - the extremely durable fabric resists rips and tears, and thanks to its soft face and aggressive side-venting, it can be pushed into duty as a stand-alone sleep system in warmer weather. Ideal for outdoor users looking for an emergency shelter that can become a regular part of their gear arsenal.

Ideal uses: Backcountry Skiing Summit Attempts Summer Sleeping Bag Emergency Shelter Snowmobiling.

Adventure Medical Kits S.O.L. Thermal Bivvy Sack is made from a very light reflective shell to which the internal thermal lining has been bonded. Its non breathable but there is a vent at the bottom and the side can be opened half way down as in the picture.

The thermal lining is very fine but provides excellent warmth for weight.

Useful bit of kit

Cheap, light, warm, durable, waterproof... but not breathable. The heat reflective properties do seem to work, and this lets me get away with using a lighter sleeping bag. Bulkier to pack than the Adventure Medical Kits emergency bivvy sack, but far more durable. Silver colour so not the bag to choose for stealthy lowland bivvies. I'd choose this over other options for one night bivvies. For multiple nights, I'd choose a breathable bag to stop your sleeping bag getting sodden with condensation.
