Euroschirm says:

The first professional hiking pocket umbrella.

Some outdoor outfitter shops offer a couple of small pocket umbrellas for hiking and trekking which appear to be suited for extreme outdoor purposes, but whose interior is often nothing out of the ordinary.

Only the latest and best materials for pocket umbrellas are applied to the light trek. Extra lightweight, extremely strong, Teflon®-coated Polyester fabric with double stitched seams between segments.

Frame with special aluminium-profile-shaft, additional frame parts of fiberglass, anodized aluminium and fiberglass polyamide, all frame parts are highly elastic, decay- and corrosion-resistant.

High-density EVA hardfoam handle comfortable to the touch with a safe grip and integrated floating compass.

Each umbrella comes in a rugged Nylon case with Polyester mesh sides and carrying loop that allows it to be attached to your backpack or belt easily as well as an aluminium-carabiner for alternative mounting to the carrying loop.

EVA hard-foam-top has additional abrasion protection of the canopy, for leaving the sleeve case at home.

This small, convenient and lightweight hiking umbrella meets your high standards of stability and resistance even under unfavorable conditions.

Light Trek is one of the lightest trekking umbrella's made and it is an indispensable companion for hiking, trekking or everyday use.

The aluminium, fibre glass frame and teflon-coated canopy make it extra light, as well as decay and corrosion resistant. The wet umbrella can be stored in its waterproof carry bag which has a carry loop and carabiner clip so you can easily attach it to your back pack or belt.

This foldable Light weight umbrella also has a built in compass in the handle to help you find your way in bad weather.

The Light Trek is strong for it's weight but as with most umbrellas it's best to put it down when it's windy.

Lightweight breathable waterproof

I was prompted to write a review by the 1* review the was left before this. I've had this umbrella for three years and it's always kept me dry, even in very heavy rain. It's stood up to some infamous Outer Hebridean winds and rain. It has turned inside out 3 or 4 times and I wouldn't have had any complaints if those winds had broken it, but while it's started to look a bit worn, it still does the job it was intended for. One minor complaint is that the velcro on the cover came loose, so that no longer sticks when I'm storing the umbrella. My only regret is not buying the silver one, so I could use it to shield myself in hot sun. When mine finally gives up I won't hesitate to replace it with the same (but probably silver) model.

Leaks water through canopy

We recently purchased the Euroschirm Light Trek Umbrella, selecting it specifically for a trip to Japan where we were expecting some rain and wanted a light, compact umbrella that would be easy to travel with on a day to day basis. On paper, the Light Trek seemed to fit the purpose. On our first day in Japan we had an afternoon of rain. Whilst the Light Trek proved to be light to carry, rain leaked through the canopy and by the end of the rain showers my head was wet! There's not much point carrying an umbrella, no matter how light it is, if it does not fulfil the main/basic function of keeping you dry! The cheaper replacements we found in Japan were more effective than the Euroschirm at several times the cost. A complaint email to Euroschirm yielded no response. So much for the "high German quality" claimed on the Euroschirm website. It was our first purchase of a Euroschirm product and we will not be purchasing or recommending Euroschirm products in the future.
