A large, versatile trap pole that works well with Hilleberg tarps. This two section pole can be extended to over 2m in length and is extremely strong so it's ideal for challenging conditions.

The 19.5 mm Tarp Pole is a simple, lightweight pole designed for use with our Tarps and other shelters such as our Mesh Box 10 and 20. It is also supplied as the center pole with our Blue Label Altai tent. The two-section Tarp Pole can extend from 124 cm (49 in) to 210 cm (82.5 in) in 5 cm (2 in) increments, thanks to extensions that slide out from each end and lock into place with spring-loaded buttons. It folds down to approximately 66 cm (26 in), and it boasts a reversible, screw-in tip that can be used with fabric pockets (such as on the Altai), or with rings or loops (as on the Tarps).
Our Verdict
Hilleberg's Tarp Pole is a technical, heavy duty pole for large shelters. This two section pole is really versatile, in part because the length can be varied between 124cm up to 210cm. There is a simple button lock design that allows you to change the length in 5cm increments so you can get the most out of your shelter in changing conditions. Although it's certainly not the lightest in weight, the adjustability and versatility certainly make up for this.
It's the little details that always stand out with Hilleberg products and this pole is no different. The end has a reversible tip that simply screws in and out with one end being ideally suited to fabric pockets as its smooth, round and unobtrusive while the other end has a thinner tip that works best with rings or loops on your shelter.
This particular tarp pole can be used as a replacement or expedition spare as it is provided as the centre pole with the Blue Label Altai tents.
