The MSR Carbon Core Tent Stakes are the lightest full-strength tent pegs currently on the market. Strong, durable and extremely lightweight.

MSR says:

MSR is proud to offer the lightest full-strength tent stake on the market – less than 6 grams per stake. The Carbon-Core tent stake uses a carbon fiber core for strength and rigidity, and an aluminum covering for durability. Sold individually and as a kit of four tent stakes.

Came across this type of peg as supplied with the Easton tents - they have width which means more grip than simple wire pegs. I also noted a marked reluctance to bend - and I was camping on rocky ground - at only 6g these are an excellent choice for most applications. Shown with a cord (by MSR), they don't come with the cord.

Need to be wary of bashing them with a stone though - the plastic top gets gouged.

if you have the money buy a set

I have a variety of pegs in my peg bag, these are always amongst them. They are easy to get into most ground and due to the big head wont destroy your hand or boot in the process, they are so light they float on water! I have had no issues with them in the year i have had them now, flawless and due to the width they really do seem to hold well.

Great (but expensive)

These are fantastically light for full-size tent pegs. Hold much better than lighter-weight ti-pins. Pretty pricey- I wouldn't buy these for all my guying-out points as they'd cost more than the tent! I take 4 of these along with some ti-pins and a couple of v-pegs and ti-nails for different soils.

They don't come with cord but they have holes if you want to add your own (2mm or thinner).
