Multimat's Compact Kumfie - Folding Sit Mat provides you with a comfortable and lightweight place to stop and rest. The lightweight foam is durable and folds away for a good pack size.

Multimat says:

Sit-mats are an excellent accessory for backpackers and campers but the Compact Kumfie sit-mat is particularly useful for ramblers and walkers too because it is a small sit-mat that folds up and can be slipped into a pocket.

Unfolded, it provides an excellent sitting area of almost 15ins x 15ins and is made durable foam so that even though it is 6.5mm thick it is strong enough to last and still provides a warm, dry cushion for you to sit on.

Like the other sit-mats in the range, it is made from waterproof and non-absorbent foam so it will keep you warm and dry while providing a comfortable cushion when you sit down - even on a wet surface.

If you are after a small sit-mat, the Compact Kumfie sit-mat won’t let you down.

Closed cell foam is a fantastically light material, it cushions and is comfy, is waterproof and provides a high level of insulation from the ground.

The other extremely flexible property of closed cell foam is that it can be cut to any size or shape easily with a knife or large pair of scissors.

The ultralight option would be to buy one Multimat Kumfie and cut it in half, its still big enough to sit on and you can make a gift of the other half to your wife or girlfriend (I'm sure she'll be delighted).

Surprisingly comfortable and insulating

Having recently taken a Compact Kumfie on a backpacking trip I have to agree that it lives up to it's name. It folds up to a reasonably small size which can be shoved into a rear or side pocket on your pack. The fact that it doesn't need inflating makes it very convenient to use. It looked pretty thin so I wasn't sure how comfortable it would be but I have to say it was perfect. It masked lumps and bumps on rocky ground. The Kumfie insulated well even after sitting on a cold rock in camp for a long time. The only slight question mark is over it's durability as after this trip it had a few scrapes in the foam but you accept that for a low cost item this light.
