A stripped back design to suit the fast paced nature of the trail and fell runner. A good choice when you are required to have a compass or if you simply like the safety when you have to find your own way.
First compass ever developed for trail running. It is, as the name points out, optimized for Trail Running due to its small size and lightweight design.
Compasses are our heritage and SILVA compasses have since long been the first-hand choice among elite orienteers and navigators around the world. We have taken this one step further and developed the first compass dedicated to trail runners.
During trail running, there are times when a compass is necessary, and some events also demand the use of a compass. Then the SILVA Trail Run compass comes in handy. It is, as the name points out, optimized for Trail Running due to its small size and lightweight design. The back of the baseplate has beveled corners to make it fit great in the hand and also to minimize the weight. It comes with a separate “scale and stencil hole” plastic card, and the adjustable wrist lanyard holds the compass tightly in place during your run. No unnecessary details. Just focus on the trail ahead of you.
Silva's Trail Run Compass is hard wearing, compact and simple but effective. It is marketed as the first ever compass specifically designed for trail running and it certainly works well. With the additional scale card that is provided, Silva has been able to design this compass to be small, super light but still strong and durable.
There are still a number of key features included on the compass such as grid lines, ruler, luminous markings and simple display. The minimalist display does reduce accuracy if you want to run along specific bearings but it does make is simple and easy to get the general direction when you're running. The adjustable, padded wrist lanyard is great for securing it comfortably during races.
