Order Processor/ Administrator


Permanent : Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £17000 p.a. (Reviewed each April).

Ultralight Outdoor Gear Ltd is a market leader in its chosen niche supplying a comprehensive range of lightweight gear for Backpacking, Trekking, Adventure Racing and Adventure Travel. As a result of continued growth and expansion plans we are currently recruiting an additional Full-time Order Processor (37.5 hours per week) to join our small team based in Darlington.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day processing, packing and dispatching of orders received. Although the role involves 'picking and packing' of stock there are a range of other duties including dealing with e-mail queries booking in stock deliveries and completing stock checks. The warehouse operation is small and pretty low tech and does not require any warehouse skills such as fork-lift truck driving or scanning of product but it does offer a friendly working environment.

The post holder will be required to work quickly and accurately to complete their duties, requiring the updating of computer based records, selecting items, packing and informing the customers at the appropriate stage of the process.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review orders received via the website.
  • Complete the Order Processing Paperwork and detailed spreadsheet records.
  • Review customer e-mails passed from Customer Service and others on a daily basis dealing with any replies in a timely manner
  • Review ‘On-Hold’, ‘Awaiting Stock’ and ‘Partially Dispatched’ orders on a daily basis ensuring these are dealt with quickly when stock is available and that customers are kept informed when delays are outside of agreed tolerance.
  • Pack orders, taking account of dispatch method and cost ensuring the most cost effective service is used.
  • Check and book-in / unpack stock deliveries ensuring the paperwork is accurate and that website stock levels are updated. Deal with anomalies.
  • Pack and book out additional parcels generated by customer service activity.
  • Carry out stock checks as required, including the annual stock check which takes place during June, July and August each year.

Working Pattern

  • The role involves early starts, typically 7.30am but 7.00am on some busy days.
  • You will be required to work alternate Saturday mornings but will have the following Friday off when this occurs.
  • You should be willing to work additional (paid) hours when required typically this will be to cover for holidays or working some hours over a Bank Holiday weekend.

This new post represents an opportunity to join a small team in an expanding organisation. The successful applicant may have an interest in outdoor activities and may even have worked in an outdoor retail environment. More important though the candidate should be able to pack parcels quickly and accurately and be able to maintain records to a satisfactory level.
