‘Arctic cod with potato and carrot in a tasty curry sauce. Good spicy dish with great taste of Norwegian fish. Makes it easy and enjoyable to eat more fish.’

Our Verdict
The Cod in Curry Sauce from Real Turmat turned out to be a surprisingly tasty meal. Packed full of flavour with juicy chunks of fish which was a real change from the many dehydrated meals we have consumed previously.

On opening the packet it’s clear this is a meal you may want to pre-warn others you are planning to eat, as the moment the seal is broken a strong fish aroma arises. Once re-hydrated the required water content produces a thick yellow sauce that nicely coats all the fish and vegetables. The spicing is well balanced with just a touch of heat, slightly sweet, with the addition of cream reminiscent of a korma type curry. It is quite heavily salted although this worked great for us after a big days packrafting down the Spey. A big hearty meal like this is something we would very much look forward to consuming after big adventure days or winter camping.

The weight to calorie count makes it a great option for lightweight expeditions, with a high fat and protein intake.
