Mountain Hardwear's Quasar II Jacket uses Dry Q® Elite’s waterproof, breathable, air-permeable technology to keep you dry inside and out.
Mountain Hardwear says:
Uncompromising alpine performance in a waterproof 3-layer shell.Lightweight and durable, the Quasar II is designed to be as compact and efficient as it is hardworking. This waterproof 3-layer shell has a 15D nylon face fabric that resists abrasion without weighing you down. Dry.Q® Elite breathable technology starts expelling excess heat and vapor right away.
||||Dry.Q Elite is used in our most premium waterproof-breathable products. It offers the most comfortable level of breathability by combining high moisture vapor transfer rates and air permeability at all body temperatures. Traditional waterproof breathable technologies require high levels of user exertion (high Body Heat) before the breathability kicks in. Dry Q Elite is instant on technology. It starts to breath the instant you put it on regardless of temperature and level of exertion for waterproof, wind proof performance like you always wanted.|
The Quasar II jacket is extremely lightweight for a 3-layer jacket as it sheds everything but the essentials to make an outstanding alpine shell. Mountain Hardwear decided not to give this jacket side pockets as they would probably be obscured by your harness, instead they opted for two large PU-zippered chest pockets which are much more practical. On the inside of the jacket there is 1 large stash pocket and 1 small zip pocket for keys, ID's or other small items.
The jacket has a soft fleece lined chin guard which eliminates zipper chafe and feels nicer than most jackets against your skin. It also has a 3-way adjustable, helmet compatible hood which features a wire brim to hold its shape in wet and windy conditions. The Quasar II also features articulated, slant-cut cuffs for maximum mobility while wearing gloves and a dual hem draw cord for easy adjustments.
The Quasar II Dry.Q Elite fabric will expel excess heat and vapour right from the start to keep you dry inside and out on your alpine adventure.
