High performance insulation combined with the outstanding Reflect technology delivers a jacket that keeps you warm to the core.

Berghaus says:

Built for extreme cold you can’t fail to be impressed with the technology hidden within this jacket. For warmth, ground-breaking new Primaloft® ThermoPlume insulation mimics the properties of natural down to a 550 fill power.

Working with Reflect technology, an ultra-light internal mesh that reflects your valuable body heat back to you, it boosts your warmth by up to 20%*. This is then body mapped through the design to deliver heat to areas that need it and allow more movement in areas that don’t.

Protected by windproof, lightweight Pertex® Quantum fabric on the outer of the jacket, it’s sure to deliver a performance that’s second to none.

Berghaus' Nunat MTN Reflect Insulated Jacket uses Primaloft insulation and states an equivalence of 550+ fill down, this is useful for us as we usually consider 550 fill down to be quite low on the scale of down fill power. But, and it is a big but, this is synthetic insulation which has lots of benefits over down. Synthetic insulation retains all of its insulative value when wet. It lasts longer than down - after many years down will start to lose its lofting capacity whereas synthetic insulation will be as good as the day you buy it. Synthetic won't ever poke through the fabric on your jacket or spontaneously escape from inside the baffles like down sometimes does.

So there are pros and cons to both down & synthetic insulation. If synthetic is for you then the Nunat is a great choice.

The Nunat jacket also takes advantage of "Reflect" technology which is a metallic mesh fabric that boosts body temperature by up to 20% versus the same jacket without the "Reflect" mesh. We've seen foil work elsewhere in outdoor gear to provide extra warmth so it seems like a good idea to stick it in a jacket.
