Marmot's Highland Pants offer a highly breathable, highly stretchy yet durable pair of trekking pants that will keep you comfortable when the trail gets tough.
Marmot says: The Highland Pant is a functional softshell pant with a hard-wearing and highly water repellent face fabric that makes it ideal for any type of back country activity. The fabric also benefits from integral UV protection (UPF 50) and stretch properties for superior wear comfort. With articulation for ease of movement and reinforcements for additional scuff protection.
A leading pioneer of Softshells, Marmot created the M Series to offer a wide array of softshell fabric technologies and construction. The M Series fabrics are designed for moving light and fast. They combine stretchable, water repellent, abrasion resistant and highly breathable shell materials with insulating buffer materials on the inside.
M3 Softshells are the most breathable in the collection, best for high aerobic activities in drier, milder conditions
Marmot's Highland pants are a tough softshell pant made from a highly breathable fabric with a good water resistant characteristic designed for active use where breathability is paramount. The most highly breathable trekking pants tend to be the lightest weight and least durable, the Highland pants are intended to deliver a comfortable climate next to your skin with a pant that is more durable.
Such a product is ideal for moving fast or engaging in high activity such as steep and rocky paths that demand a bit of effort to make progress. That also explains the choice of a high stretch fabric that allows great freedom of movement.
Durability is courtesy of strategically placed reinforcements, such as on the bum, knees and ankle. Other features we like are the flat thigh pockets, zipped rear pocket and open hand pockets, which ffer an alternative to zipped.
There are belt loops round the waist but also an internal drawcord, you could therefore get away with not wearing a belt if you think that would interfere with a rucksack hipbelt.
Good 'allrounder' trekking pants with plenty of pocket options and excellent stretch.
