Mountain Hardwear's Super Compressor Hooded Jacket uses a high performing synthetic insulation to produce a really warm jacket for cold conditions where dampness could be an issue.
Mountain Hardwear says:
Belay jacket made from our proprietary new construction technique. State-of-the-art, proprietary synthetic insulation construction with the loft and warmth of a down jacket. Perfect stand-alone piece for cold belays or for layering in damp conditions.
||||This insulation works to mimic the structure of natural goose down using 100% waterproof, synthetic fibres. A lattice of thick, rigid fibres helps create structure and maintain loft while a multitude of thinner fibres fills in the structure. This creates a warm synthetic structure with excellent compression rebound, which will not absorb moisture. |
Mountain Hardwear's Super Compressor Jacket is a really warm synthetic jacket. Relatively lightweight it works well as a campground insulation garment in an environment where synthetic insulation is preferred to down.
The finish at the cuffs is really nice, lightly elasticated but rolled back in on itself. The hand warmer pockets are set high above the hem which will avoid a rucksack hipbelt or a climbing harness. The main zip is water resistant and backed with an insulated flap. The hood is fairly simple but can be cinched around the face.
