This is now the benchmark. If you are after lighter poles but still want them to be adjustable to pitch a tent and have a shorter pack size to stow them inside bags for the journey then the Black Series tick all of those boxes.
Leki says:
This top-class trekking pole fulfils the highest technical and aesthetic requirements. The folding pole, made from 100% carbon, is extremely stable and very light, weighing just 207 g. It is also equipped with the Speed Lock 2 Adjustment System and new CLD Core Locking Device. This intuitive mechanism makes it simple to fold together to a size of 40 cm, while also making it as easy to use as a pen. In addition, the system is located inside the pole, protecting it from outside influences. The anatomically formed AERGON Thermo Long Grip provides security and grip on all terrains. Whether you are trekking, on a multi-day hut tour or via ferrata: you can do anything with the Black Series!
Sold as pair.
Leki's Black Series Trekking Poles are the pinnacle of trekking pole design. The innovative new CLD locking system is head and shoulders above any other system on the market. No more having to push buttons that are hard to operate or catch skin when the pole suddenly collapses on activation. Setting up the poles couldn’t be easier. Combined with the reliability and simplicity of the Speed Lock 2 for varying the height and you have an exceptional piece of kit here.
The Aergon Thermo Long grips are extremely comfortable when used all day and the extended grip is handy for going up steep ground. The rounded tops fit nicely into the palms when using the poles to reach down on rocky descents or river crossings. They maintain good levels of grip even when soaking wet. The straps are very thin but I prefer that so they sit unnoticed in my hands. I’ve put around 300 miles on these poles and they have performed superbly. If you want a strong lightweight pole with great comfort, easy adjustment, small pack size and that are simple to set up then look no further.
