Siliconised Materials
In tensile strength tests the bothside silicon-laminated Ultralight 70D material and 40D material in testing reached outstanding values (11kg and 7kg, EN ISO 13937-3 - single tear method) incontrast to PU-coated PE material (1kg).
The two sided 3-way siliconisation coats the fine ripstop fabric and gives it long lasting protection from damaging UV rays.

Powerframe Technology
Vaude's Powerframe is a tent construction featuring extreme wind stability - it increases stability by approximately 80% while enlarging the inner tent volume by 40% thanks to the steeper pitched tent walls.
Lighter weight poles can be used with the Powerframe ensuring minimal additional weight.
The tent is directly attached to the frame with Powerclips. The tent suspension creates triangular trusses over the entire frame which evenly distribute the load. Even during storms powerframe tents are not distorted under wind pressure.

Our Verdict
We think the Powerframe is a superb innovation, there is now a choice between weight and stability - so it depends on where you're going and what you should expect in the way of bad weather.
There's nothing to choose between the weights of the Taurus UL and the Power Taurus UL though Vaude have shaved a bit off the size of the Power version to achieve this - but its not much and the rear end is wider anyway so its more of a redesign. Powerframe tents are pitched very easily - the inner and fly are joined and the poles form an external skeleton - so no threading poles through fabric flaps - just put them to each corner and clip the tent to them.
