In 2001 Ultralight Adventure Equipment (ULA) was started by Pacific Crest Trail hiker Brian Frankle, who saw a need for durable yet light weight backpacking equipment. A full featured, full suspension (active) ultralight pack that offers exceptional load control, on-trail functionality, and full body compression.

Combining a 1.2 oz carbon fiber/delrin active suspension hoop and exceptional compression, the Ohm maximizes load control, load transfer, pack compression, and overall pack rigidity in an ultralight package.

1.9 oz ripstop nylon, Dyneema Gridstop, and ULA's proven construction methods insure the Ohm is built to last despite its minimal weight.

Our Verdict

ULA packs are mid range in terms of weight but thats because they've paid attention to durability and have produced a range of tough packs with very practical features designed by backpackers. The OHM 2.0 has an internal frame (removable) which enables it to transfer weight to the hips more effectively than a frameless pack - this means it will carry heavier loads.

Its capacity is 64 Litres but bear in mind thats when you add up all the various pockets and compartments - the main compartment is only 34 Litres so it may not compare well to that other 65 Litre pack you have in the loft - having said that - you will probably be fixated with weight reduction if you are looking at this pack and therefore 64Litres is probably ample for most trips.

Nice features? Checkout the large front mesh pocket - ideal for a wet tent, large side pockets which don't require you to be a contortionist to use - and practical square hipbelt pockets.

Unlike the ULA packs designed for carrying heavier loads the OHM 2.0 doesn't have a lumber pad so packing is a bit trickier and it doesn't sit quite so well on your back.
