The Bivi Tarp is a complete shelter system for summer trips and comprises a waterproof tarp with a mesh sleeping compartment and sealed groundsheet suspended underneath. When combined with the new Moonlite bag cover (sold separately) and a suitable sleeping bag the Bivi Tarp could even be used all year round in sheltered locations.
Our Verdict
Superb compromise between lightweight tent and tarp - at only 688g including pegs and poles it deserves serious consideration. The pegs are Terra Nova's very small 2g pegs so these may require upgrading.
You could use a trekking pole at the front but in general poles won't collapse to 50cm so the supplied pole may be the best option.
