This very robust backpack is a great success with hikers looking for high volume without the inconvenience of weight.
Ideal for light hiking and multi-sports racing, equipment necessary for an outing over a few days. Delivered with one bottle (600ml).
Our Verdict
The 40L Adventure is clearly designed for short backpacks and its capacity is about right for that. The back panel comprises a sheet of closed cell foam enclosed in an internal pocket, which can be removed to reduce the weight further, though getting it back in is a bit of a struggle. In addition to this there are six foam pads on the back for comfort - they create channels which I suppose is to improve ventilation. If this is the intention I'm not conviced it works, however the combination of this padding and the excellent padded hipbelt does make for a very comfortable carry.
The Raidlight founder Benoit Laval is clearly keen to have his water bladder accessible - a feature of many Raidlight packs (including this one) is a bladder pouch against the outside face of the rucksack (rather than against the backpanel) that is easily accessible for refilling.
In addition there is the hip mounted 600ml drinks bottle for 'on the go' refreshment.
Benoit also likes his pockets and gear racks, there's lots to get you organised here, and the weight is respectably low given the features of the pack.
