Low bulk means it works great as a mid or outer layer and Microlight fabric is lightweight, packable and windproof. Narrow baffle structure stabilises the 125g/4oz (size large) of 750 fill European goose down to offer fantastic levels of warmth for the weight.

Ideal for fast and light activities, from Alpine climbing to mountain marathon use but also great for lightweight backpacking and for regular casual use.

After listening to feedback from sponsored athletes and customers we have decided to add zips to the hand warmer and chest pockets.

Our Verdict

Fanatically light, the Microlite has narrow down compartments to keep the filling in place. This is a down jacket that folds into its own pocket! Lightly elasticated cuffs and zipped handwarmer pockets, the cut is slightly lowered at the back. Internally the lining is an eye-catching contrast to the outer colour.

Updgraded slightly for Autumn/Winter 2011 with the new lining colours and the addition of zips on the handwarmer pockets.

We packed a large one into its pocket and its an odd shaped package about 20 x 20 x 10cm - in fact an ideal pillow. Most of us think down gear for Winter use - but with these ultralight versions the same advantages of insulation per gram and packability still hold true for a late evening / high level summer garment.
