| Primus EtaExpress Gas Stove System |
 |
Primus is now expanding the Eta range with a smaller, more compact stove for the solo trip. EtaExpress includes a stove that mounts directly on the gas cartridge, a windscreen for maximum fuel savings and a 1 litre pot.
The lid can also be used as a frying pan. Both the pot and the frying pan are coated on the inside with three layer titanium non stick surface.
All of the components, as well as the 230g LP gas cartridge, can be packed into the pot. For best fuel economy, turn the throttle approximately 3/4 open.
Our Verdict
We had to do the maths: you could forget the small pan, a piece of foil does the same job, which gives a weight of 102g for the stove, 216g for the pot and 38g for the windshield. Total weight 356g.
Minimum weight of a 1 Litre titanium pan, stove, windshield etc would be around 250g, about 100g less. BUT, since the 230g gas cartridge lasts (say) 3 days (and actualls weighs 360g), and the Eta Heat Exchanger System is claimed to be around 50% more efficient - then (very roughly and unscientific) the extra weight is justified for trips over 2-3 days.
The extra weight could also be justified by the fact that the pot is non-stick and incorporates insulated handles, and the stove has a piezo electric lighter.
This is a well thought out system - we like it!
