The Rotor Smock combines Pertex Quantum with Primaloft's top of the range Primaloft One to make the best combination of weight and warmth. By using Pertex Quantum for both the inner and outer shell of the smock it creates two layers of stagnant air. One in the smock in the Primaloft and the second between the Rotor and the body. This second layer is only present if you seal up the smock at waist, neck and cuffs using the drawcords and tabs provided.
Alternatively, to prevent having to take the smock off when too warm, the sleeves can be pushed up past the elbow and the extra long front zip opened for maximum ventilation.
Rotor Smock has been designed to be used either as an insulating windproof shell or under a waterproof as purely insulating. As this means Rotor maybe shell we have added a huge fleece backed two hand pocket. This pocket can either keep your hands toastie warm or it is easily big enough to hold a map, compass and more.
Our Verdict
Well thought out Primaloft smock at a very low weight - differs from others with the handwarmer pocket and generous sleeve width, and extra long zip. Its also using Primaloft One - about 15% warmer than Primaloft Sport which is used in some other synthetic garments.
The colour of the smock has a Brown tinge to it rather than being a deep Black - we think the photo is an accurate representation.
